Sublime Imperfection: Royal Green-Blue
Throughout history, the colours blue and green were very scarce and associated with royalty and nobility. This is because it was hard to find them in their natural form, making them expensive and unattainable.
Today, it is easier to produce these colours and they are widely available, even in cheap products. I found great interest in the fact that once the original context of these colours was lost, their status has also been altered.
In this project I explored the preciousness of colours through the colour turquoise. I combined the natural form of this colour (using oxidised scrap copper objects) with its artificial form (using inferior found objects). In this manner, I sought to reclaim the colour's archaic status in new and precious objects.
